A service map defines how requests between service clients
and service providers are routed, transformed, or both. Create a
service map by using the New Service Map wizard
and the Service Mapping Editor in IBM® Rational® Application Developer, then deploy the
service map to WebSphere® Application Server.
Before you begin
You must have created a service map library in which to
store your service map; see Creating a service map library
You
must have WSDL files and any associated XML schema files for your
source and target services available in your workspace.
About this task
You can create a service map to complete different functions
by mapping one source service to one or more target services, and
by setting conditions on those connections. For more information,
see
Service mapping.
Procedure
- Click . The "Select
a wizard" window opens.
- Expand the Service Map folder and
select Service Map. Click Next.
The New Service Map wizard opens.
- Select a service map library for your service map, or create
one.
- Select a parent folder for your service map, or create one.
- Optional: Change the name for service map in
the Service map name field. The
default name for the map is NewMap.srvcmap.
- To save this service map and add more details later, click Finish.

Alternatively, click Next to specify the source
WSDL.
- Optional: Complete the source WSDL page of
the wizard.
- Optional: Complete the target WSDL page of
the wizard. The Service Mapping Editor opens.
What to do next
- Follow the instructions in the subtopics to complete the implementation
of your service map.
- Edit a service map if you want to change the source or target
interfaces, or if you did not complete the optional steps; see Editing a service map
- Finally, export the service map. See Exporting a service map library.
