Installations on non-IBM hardware
You can install IBM QRadar Network Insights on your own hardware, VMWare ESXi virtual machine, Amazon Web Services (AWS), Google Cloud, or Microsoft Azure.
In addition to any platform-specific requirements, all virtual or real-hardware QRadar Network Insights hosts meet the following suggested CPU topology specifications for optimum performance.
Specification | Value |
---|---|
NUMA nodes | Exactly one NUMA node per monitoring interface. |
CPU sockets | Each NUMA node's CPU core exists on the same socket, and each distinct NUMA node on a distinct socket. |
For example, a QRadar Network Insights host usually has 1 administrative interface, 1 monitoring interface, 1 NUMA node, and 28 CPU cores on 1 CPU socket.
On a VMWare server, CPU sharing between virtual machines can degrade QRadar Network Insights packet processing throughput. For optimal performance, make sure the number of virtual CPU cores that are configured across all running guests does not exceed the number of physical cores on the server.
