Inserting objects into a visual project by using the layout wizard

The layout wizard allows you to insert objects into your visual project by dragging the source query from the Repository Explorer tree to the editor area of your visual project.

About this task

To create an object by using the layout wizard, perform the following steps:

Procedure

  1. In the Repository Explorer view, select the source query for your object and drag it to the editor area of your visual project.
    The Layout Wizard opens.
  2. On the Select query role page of the wizard, select one of the options and click Next.
    • If you want to use your query as a source of data for a new object, select Data Source.
    • If the query has several display modes and you want to use one of them as an object in your visual project, select Layout.
    Depending on the option that you choose, the Select the layout category and style page or the Select a chart or create one page opens.
  3. Select the object that you want to insert into your visual project and click Next.
    Depending on the object, the corresponding wizard opens.
  4. Complete the steps of the specified object's wizard to create the object.

Results
