Procedure commands

In this section, each procedure command is described. Descriptions include syntax diagrams and usage examples.

Each QMF interface supports a slightly different list of procedure commands and procedure command parameters.

QMF Catalog objects versus Repository folder objects
When using procedure commands that manipulate QMF objects, (queries, forms, visual reports, or procedures) different syntax should be used for identifying objects that are stored in a QMF Catalog and objects that are stored in a Repository folder.
BOTTOM command
The BOTTOM command scrolls to the last row of a query result set.
CONNECT command
The CONNECT command stablishes a connection to a database data source.
CONVERT command
The CONVERT command will convert the current query (viewed in either SQL or Query Builder editor) to the SQL view.
DISPLAY command
The DISPLAY command displays an object derived from the content in an open window (such as query results), or an object saved in the repository or QMF catalog.
DRAW command
The DRAW command creates a basic query for a table based on the description of the table in the database.
EDIT command
The EDIT command displays an object derived from the content in an open editor window (such as queries, indexes, forms, procedures, and tables), or an object saved in the repository or QMF catalog.
ERASE command
The ERASE command removes an object (query, index, form, procedure, or table) from the database.
EXECUTE command
The EXECUTE command activates the target application, object, or URL.
EXPORT command
The EXPORT command saves objects that are stored in a database or are currently in an open window to a file.
FORWARD command
The FORWARD command scrolls to the last row of a query result set.
IMPORT command
The IMPORT command imports objects that are stored in a file and opens them in an available window (temporary storage) or saves them in the current database.
LIMIT LOCAL command
The LIMIT LOCAL command specifies values for existing local variables.
MAIL TO Command
The MAIL TO command sends the specified object as an Internet Mail attachment.
PRINT command
The PRINT command prints a copy of an object that is in the current window (temporary storage) or stored in a database.
RESET GLOBAL
The RESET GLOBAL command deletes the names and values of user global variables.
RUN command
The RUN command runs procedures, queries, indexes, or dynamarts that are stored in a database or are current objects in an open window (reside in temporary storage). For queries, the RUN command provides the ability to save the retrieved results to a database.
RUNTSO command
You issue the RUNTSO command to start the Q.DSQQMFSP stored procedure from a CALL statement You use the RUNTSO command to pass the name of a query or procedure to run on QMF for TSO. The query or procedure that is named in this command must exist in the QMF catalog in the subsystem against which the RUNTSO command runs.
SAVE command
The SAVE command saves an object from temporary storage to a database.
SET GLOBAL command
The SET GLOBAL command sets the values of existing global variables or creates variables and values.
SET INVISIBLE command
The SET INVISIBLE command hides specified variables from the Prompt Variables dialog.
SET LOCAL command
The SET LOCAL command sets the values of existing local variables or creates new variables and values.
SET LOCAL WITH VALUES command
The SET LOCAL WITH VALUES sets the values that can be specified for local variables.
SET OPTIONS command
The SET OPTIONS command specifies procedure execution options.
SHOW command
The SHOW command displays objects from temporary storage and is similar to the DISPLAY command.
USE REPOSITORY command
The USE REPOSITORY command establishes a connection to the specified repository.
