Creating a resource limits group schedule

A resource limits group can have one or more schedules, each with a different set of resource limits. The schedule defines when the associated set of resource limits is in effect.

About this task

The set of resource limits specify what actions and resource usage is allowed while the schedule is in effect.

To create or edit a resource limits group schedule:

Procedure

  1. From the Repository Explorer view, right-click a data source. Select Properties from the pop-up menu. The Properties for [data source] window opens. Click Resource Limits. The Resource Limits window opens. Select a resource limits group from the Resource limits groups list box. Click the Edit icon. The Edit Resource Limits Group window opens.
  2. The Resource limits group that you selected is identified in the Group name field.
  3. Comments that were specified when the group was created are displayed in the Comments field. You can make changes to the comment text by typing new text directly in the field.
  4. All of the schedules that have been defined for this resource limits group are listed in the Schedule List list box.
  5. The Status radio buttons indicate whether all of the schedules that are listed in the Schedule List are collectively active or inactive. To activate all the schedules listed in the Schedule List, select Active. All of the schedules are active. To deactivate all the schedules listed in the Schedule List, click the Inactive. None of the schedules are in effect except the default schedule. The schedules are saved and can be activated at any time.
  6. To create a new resource limits group schedule, click Add. The Main page of the New Resource Limits Group Schedule window opens. Use the pages of the New Resource Limits Group Schedule window to specify the individual resource limits for the schedule.
    Note: The Add button is disabled for the Default resource limits group.
  7. To edit a resource limits group schedule, select the schedule from the Schedule List and click Edit. For the Default resource limits group, the Timeouts page of the Edit Resource Limits Group Schedule window opens. For the created resource limits groups, the Main page opens. Use the pages of the Edit Resource Limits Group Schedule window to specify the individual resource limits for the schedule.
  8. To delete a resource limits group schedule, select the schedule from the Schedule List and click Delete. The selected resource limits group schedule is deleted.
    Note: The Delete button is disabled for the Default resource limits group.
  9. Click OK. The Edit Resource Limits Group window closes. The new resource limits group schedule is created and any changes that you have made to the resource limits parameters are saved. Control returns to the Resource Limits window. The next step to setting up resource limits is to specify the values for the resource limits group schedule.
