With an Amazon S3 data
source, you can access data files on your Amazon S3 storage as tables.
About this task
You can connect to Amazon S3 by using
either a basic connection or a Security Assertion Markup Language (SAML) connection.
To create an Amazon S3 data source,
complete the following steps:

The Create Amazon S3 Data Source wizard opens.

Type the data source name in the Data Source Name field.

Depending on the type of connection that you want, enter the necessary information.
- To make a SAML connection, complete the following steps:
- Select the Use SAML Authentication checkbox.
- From the Region list, select the region that you have access to, and then
click Test Connection.
The SAML Authentication
Properties dialog opens.
- Enter the required information in the SAML Authentication Properties dialog
and click OK.
The SAML Authentication
Properties dialog closes and the Bucket list is populated with the
bucket names for the region that you selected. To reload the bucket names, click the
Refresh button.
- To make a basic connection, complete the following steps:
- Specify the Access Key ID and the Secret Access
Key for your account.
- From the Region list, select the region that you have access to, and then
click Test Connection.
The Bucket list is populated
with the bucket names for the region that you selected. To reload the bucket names, click the
Refresh button.

From the Bucket list, select the bucket to which you have access.
All the files from the bucket will be included in the newly created data
source.

To include the files that are inside the sub folders, select the Include
subfolders checkbox.
- Optional:
In the Comment field, enter the description for the data source.

Click Finish.
A new Amazon S3 data source data source gets created and the Create New Amazon
S3 Data Source wizard closes.
Results
The Amazon S3 data source is
added in the Repository Explorer under the Amazon S3 Data Source node, with a
sub-node each for Basic and SAML connections. All the
files from the selected bucket that QMF supports are displayed under each sub-node.
