Specifying Title chart format options

Title chart format options control whether the title of the chart is displayed and how it is formatted.

About this task

To specify Title chart format options:

Procedure

  1. On the Format page of the New Chart wizard, select Title in the tree.
    The Title options are displayed.
  2. To display the title of the chart, select the Visible check box.
  3. From the Type drop-down list, select Automatically Generated if you want the chart title to be generated automatically by using the axes columns. If you want to specify the chart title by hand, select Custom Text.
  4. If you selected Custom Text, specify the title of the chart in the Text field.
You can add a prompt value to a chart title to update the title automatically when a different prompt value is specified.

For example: if your chart is based on the Q.STAFF table and you want to insert the PRMPT simple prompt value in the title of your chart, your expression might be: %G for DEPT № = &PRMPT, where DEPT № is the description text for the PRMPT simple prompt value and %G is the variable that puts the names of the category column and the value column of your chart into the chart title. Also, you can use the %D variable, that puts the current date in the title of your chart.

  5. Specify the font of the title in the Font field.
  6. Select the location of the chart from the Location list.
