Using the Message Groups view

Administrators can use the Message Groups view to create and manage groups of workstations that are connected to a QMF Server. Grouping workstations enables administrators to perform operations on a group of workstations at a time.

The Message Groups view lists all the workstations that are connected to a QMF Server. This list is displayed as per the message group that you select. By default, the workstations of the All Members group are displayed in the view. This group contains all the workstations that are connected to the QMF Server.

To open the Message Groups view, click View > Message Groups.

You can perform the following actions on the Message Groups view:
Creating a new message group
Click Create a new message group, specify the name and the description, and then click OK.

The new message group gets added in the Group list.

Editing a message group
Select the message group from the Group list, and then click Edit message group. You can edit only the description of the message group.
Deleting a message group
Select the message group from the Group list, and then click Delete message group. The message group gets deleted, and the Message Groups view gets refreshed.
Important: Ensure that you select the correct message group. The message group is deleted without a confirmation message.
Adding a workstation
  1. From the Group list, select the message group to which you want to add a workstation, and then click Add workstation.
  2. In the Search field, press Ctrl G, and select the message group from which you want to add the workstation.
  3. Select the workstations that you want to add, and then click OK.
Deleting a workstation
  1. Select the message group from the Group list.
  2. From the list of the workstations, select the workstation that you want to remove, and click OK.
Sending Push/Purge updates
Click Push/Purge Updates, select a message group from the list, and then select the workstation.
  • Push - Notifies the workstation about the available updates of the newer configuration versions. Only the workstations, which are a part of the selected message group, and are connected at that instance of time, are notified.
  • Purge - Deletes older updates from the QMF Server. After you purge the updates, new QMF Workstations that connect to the QMF Server will not be notified about the purged updates.
