You can apply categorization to the calculated columns
in results of visual queries. Use categorization to stratify the data
and organize it into categories for effective work.
Before you begin
Open a query to which results you want to apply categorization on the
Design tab of the Visual Query editor.
About this task
To add categorization:
Procedure
- In the Transformations pane, click
the New Categorization button to open the Categorization dialog.
- Enter the name that you want to use for the categorization
in the Categorization Name field.
- Click Add Conformance Rules Set to
open the Conformance Rules dialog and specify
the rules that you want to use to include the appropriate values of
the result set in the category.
- Click Add Category to open the Category dialog
and specify the expressions for categorization.
- In the Categorization dialog, select
the presentation for the values that are not included in the category.
- Select Left Out to display empty values.
- Select Grouped Together and in the Group
name field specify the name that you want to display for
all values that are not included in the category.
- Select Listed Individually to display the
values of the result set.
- Click OK to close the Categorization dialog.
The categorization that you created is added to the Categorizations node
in the Transformations pane.
Results
You can use the categorizations that you created to display
specific data in the calculated columns of the query results.
