You can add relational data source information to a repository
from an existing server definition file by using the Import QMF for Windows Configuration
Settings wizard.

The Import QMF for Windows Configuration
Settings wizard opens automatically the first time you launch QMF for Workstation.
Also you can open the wizard by selecting .
Note: Data sources in QMF for Windows
Version 8.1 and QMF for WebSphere®
Version 8.1 and prior were referred to as
servers in the SDF.
To import
the related data source information from QMF for Windows:
Procedure
- Select the settings and preferences that you want to import
on the first page of the Import QMF for Windows Configuration
Settings wizard.
- Select Import the content of the last used server
definition file, and then select whether to add the related
data source information to a new personal repository or to the current
repository. Click Next.
Note: If
you are running QMF for Workstation for
the first time, the current repository option
is not available. If you select the new personal repository option,
the repository created will have the same name as the server definition
file from which you are importing content. If a repository with this
name already exists or if the name contains restricted symbols, you
are prompted to enter a unique and valid name.
- To add user authentication information and search filter
settings, select Import server-related information check
box.
- Specify the server definition file on the second page of
the Import QMF for Windows Configuration
Settings wizard.
The default path to the server definition
file is specified automatically. If the server definition file is
not located in the default path, specify the correct path in the File
path field.
- Select encoding type from the Encoding list.
If encoding is correct, you can view the contents of the specified
file in the preview area.
- If required, prepare configuration packages by selecting Bind
Packages, and then click Next.
- Select the server whose settings you want to edit from
the Servers Found list.
Each of
the servers that are defined in the server definition file are displayed
in the list.
- To modify the connection parameters to the selected server,
edit the Alias, URL and Driver fields.
If you selected Bind Packages, click Next to
proceed. Otherwise, click Finish to complete
the import process.
- Review the list of data sources for which you want to bind
packages in the QMF Catalog table.
- Specify the settings for package binding. Some settings
are specified by default. The following table lists the default values:

Authorization parameters are imported from the
selected server definition file. Note: Selecting several data
sources with different authorization information can cause problems. |
- Click Finish and wait until the
import process is complete.
