Editing objects properties in the HTML5 mode

You can customize the objects on the Canvas by editing the properties of these objects.

About this task

Each object on the Canvas has an individual toolbar. Use this toolbar to customize the object.

Procedure

  1. Click the object to display the object toolbar.
  2. The following buttons have identical or similar functions for all objects:
    • To change the position of the object on the Canvas, click Move button and drag the object to the new position.

    • To edit the title of the object, click Edit Title, type the new title, and specify the font options in the Edit Title window.

    • To see the source object path, click About Source Object.

    • To delete the object from the Canvas, click Remove.

  3. To edit queries and charts, use the following buttons, in addition to the ones that are listed in step 2:
    • To change the display mode of your object, click Display Mode and select the new display mode.

    • To add a chart to the Canvas, click Add Chart and specify the settings of a new chart in the Add New Chart window.

    • To convert your current chart into a 2D chart, click 2D Charts and select the chart type.

    • To convert your current chart into a 2D chart with depth, click 2D Charts with Depth and select the chart type.

    • To change the source columns of a chart, click Change Columns and edit your chart in the Chart Settings window.

  4. To edit the Combo Box and List Box objects, use the following buttons, in addition to the ones that are listed in step 2:
    • To populate your object with data from another object, click Configure. Select the source object (analytical query, visual query, chart, dynamart, compound dynamart, or table) from the Resource field and select the source object column that you want your combo box or list box to display from the Column list.

    • To define the dependency between the current object and another object on the Canvas, click Create Wiring. For more information, see the Wiring objects on the Canvas in HTML5 topic.

    • To change the source object and source object column for your combo box or list box and to change the font settings, click Change Settings.

  5. To edit the Text Box object, use the following buttons, in addition to the ones that are listed in step 2:
    • To define the dependency between the current object and another object on the Canvas, click Create Wiring. For more information, see the Wiring objects on the Canvas in HTML5 topic.

    • To specify the default text for your text box object and to change the font settings, click Change Settings. The default text is displayed by your text box object when you open your ad hoc report or switch your visual dashboard into the Runtime mode.
