Inserting an embedded content object

An Embedded Content object is a container that provides the means to add external content to a visual report or dashboard. The external content that can be displayed can be a text file or a HTML page.

About this task

To insert an Embedded Content object in your visual dashboard scene:

Procedure

  1. From the Project Explorer view, open the source scene in the Canvas mode.
  2. From the Palette view, click the Embedded Content object.
  3. Click in the editor window to insert the Embedded Content object. The Embedded Content object is drawn based on default size properties. Click in the editor window and drag the cursor to insert the Embedded Content object drawn to your specific size. The Embedded content wizard opens.
  4. In the Embedded Content mode area click ExternalData to add a separate file or DirectData to add the content as a string.
  5. If you selected ExternalData specify the location of the file you want to add in the Content location field. You can click the ellipsis (...) to search for the location.
  6. Specify the type of content that will be embedded in the Content type field. Select Text to display content in text format and HTML to display content in HTML format.
  7. If you selected Text content type, select the required character encoding from the Character encoding list.
  8. If you selected DirectData, click the ellipsis (…) to add the required content in the Content field, and click OK.
  9. Specify the type of content that will be embedded in the Content type field. Select Text to display content in text format and HTML to display content in HTML format.
  10. If you selected Text content type, select the required character encoding from the Character encoding list.
  11. Click OK. An Embedded Content object is created. An entry is made for the object in the Project Explorer view.
