Specifying email notifications for failed tasks

You can specify the email notifications that are sent to particular addresses with the debug information for failed tasks.

About this task

To specify an email notification for a particular task failure:

Procedure

  1. In the Task List windowScheduled Tasks view, select a task to that you want to add the notification and click Email Notification.
  2. In the Task Notification Settings window, select the Send email notifications if task fails check box.
  3. Select the Use predefined settings option to use one of the configurations that are set globally by the administrator on the Email page in the Email Notifications area of the Preferences window.
    Note: For remote tasks the preferences must be specified on the web server.
    1. Select the configuration that you want to use in the notification.
    2. If the list is empty, you can add a global configuration by clicking Add Settings. For more information, see steps 3-5 in Specifying email notification preferences.
      The global configuration is added and becomes available on the Email page in the Email Notifications area of the Preferences window.
  4. Select the Custom option to specify the notification settings for this particular task.
  5. In the Message Properties area, specify the following settings:
    • Select the format of the body text from the Format list. The available formats are Text and HTML.
    • The address to that the email must be sent in the To field.
    • The address to that a carbon copy of the email must be sent in the Cc field.
    • The address from that the email must be sent in the From field.
  6. To specify SMTP server parameters, click SMTP Settings. In the SMTP Settings window, specify whether to use the server that is predefined by administrator or a custom one.
    1. If you decide to use a predefined SMTP server, select the server from the list of predefined servers or click Add Server to create one.
    2. If you decide to use a custom server, specify server parameters: its address and port number. If the SMTP server requires authentication, select Use SMTP authentication, and then specify user name and password. If it is necessary to specify extra access preferences, click Advanced to open the Advanced SMTP Settings window where you can add keywords that are supported by javamail. Click OK.
    Click OK to close the SMTP Settings window.
  7. Select the Attach support data check box if you want to send the support data in the email attachment.
  8. Click OK to save the specified notification settings.
    The specified notification appears in the Email Notification column of the Task List window.
