Creating personal data sources

When creating a data source, you can select to make it personal. It allows you to store this data source on the local file system and access it via any repository connection. A personal data source is not accessible only when you establish a connection to a repository that has another data source under the same name.

About this task

Personal data sources are available only to users who create them.

To create a personal data source, complete the following steps:

Procedure

  1. In the Repository Explorer, right-click the category of data sources to which you want to add a personal data source.
  2. Click New > Data Source Type.
    The wizard for creating data sources opens.
  3. On the page of availability type selection, select Personal.
    Note: This step is skipped when:
    • You create a folder data source, because folder data sources can only be personal.
    • You are only authorized to create personal data sources in the repository.
  4. Complete the procedure of creating the data source as instructed in the topic for this particular type of data sources.
  5. Click Finish.
    You created a personal data source. It is now located under the node of the respective data source type. The created personal data source will be displayed in all of the repositories to which you are connected.
  6. To delete the personal data source, right-click it and select Delete.
    The deleted data source will not be displayed in any of the repositories to which you are connected.
