Creating Cloudant data sources

Cloudant is a NoSQL database as a service that stores data as a collection of JSON documents. Create a Cloudant data source to define a connection to a Cloudant database from QMF for Workstation and QMF for WebSphere®. QMF supports partitioned and non-partitioned Cloudant databases.

About this task

To create a Cloudant data source, complete the following steps:

Procedure

  1. From the main menu, to open the Select a wizard page of the New wizard, select File > New > Other.
  2. To open the Create Cloudant Data Source wizard, expand the Repository folder, select Cloudant Data Source, and then click Next.
  3. In the Data Source Name field, enter the name that you want to use for the data source.
  4. In the URL field, enter a Cloudant database URL.
  5. Click Set User Information and in the User Information dialog, specify the user authentication settings for accessing the data source.
    • To always request the user information when users access the data source, select the User ID and password are required check box.
    • To request the logon information from the user, if the repository login and password are not available for accessing the data source, select the Try to use repository login and password to connect to this data source check box.
      Note: This option is available only for secure repositories.
    • To enable users to save the password for the data source, select the Allow users to save password check box.
  6. In the User name and Password fields, specify the credentials that you want to use for accessing the data source, and then click OK to close the User Information dialog.
  7. To test the connection to the data source, click Test Connection.
  8. In the Comment field, you can enter the description to the data source.
    This description is displayed with the data source properties.
  9. Click Finish to close the Create Cloudant Data Source wizard and add a new Cloudant data source.

Results

The created Cloudant data source is added under the Cloudant Data Sources node.
