Inserting a Google Map object

You can use the Google Map object to display Google Maps with different objects on them in your visual dashboards.

About this task

To insert a Google Map object:

Procedure

  1. In the Palette view, expand the Map palette and double-click the Google Map object to open the Google Map Wizard.
  2. In the Viewpoints area, specify the start position of the Google Map object and its zoom level.
    • Select Auto check box if you want to set a map viewpoint automatically depending on the location of the objects that you added to the map.
    • Clear Auto check box and enter the coordinates in the Latitude and Longitude fields to specify the map center.
    • From the Zoom level list, select the zoom value for the Google Map object.
    • Select Fixed check box if you want to fix the map viewpoint. In this case, the users are not able to scroll a map or zoom it.
      Note: When you select the Fixed check box, the Zoom control becomes unavailable in the Google Map controls area.
  3. In the Google Map controls area, select the controls that you want to add to the Google Map object and click Next.
    Note: The Google Map Wizard allows you to add three most frequently used controls to the Google Map object: Zoom, Map Type, and Scale. You can add other controls in the Properties view of your Google Map object. For more information, see the Google Map topic.
  4. In the Available map types area, select the map types that are available for the users.
  5. From the Map type by default list, select the map type that is loaded by default and click Next.
  6. Define the content that you want to add to the Google Map object and click Next.
    • Select Create a map with a component if you want to add an object to a map to display specific data, and then select the appropriate object from the Select Component area.
    • Select Create an empty map if you want to add a map without any objects on it.
  7. Depending on the option that you selected, specify the required information on the next pages of the Google Map Wizard and click Finish to display the Google Map object that you created in the editor.
    Note: To open the Google Map object that you created in QMF for WebSphere®, you must obtain and specify the correct Google Map API Key.
