Managing display modes

You use the Display modes pane of the Display editor to add, edit, and delete the display modes of a query result set.

About this task

With the display modes you can visualize result set data in many different ways. You can create any number of display modes with different content and visual formatting. Every result set starts with a grid called Results grid. This is the standard query results grid that is displayed when you run a query for the first time. You can not edit this grid, but you can add a new one to the Grid node of the Display modes tree, and edit its layout as needed.

To manage the display modes of a query result set:

Procedure

  1. Navigate to the query that has the result set that you want to edit and open it in the Visual Query editor.
  2. Click the Display tab.
    The Display editor opens.
  3. To add a display mode, right-click either Grid or Chart, select New, and select the display mode that you want to add.
  4. To rename a display mode, right-click it and select Rename from the pop-up menu.
  5. To edit a display mode, right-click it and select Edit from the pop-up menu.
  6. To delete a display mode, right-click it and select Remove from the pop-up menu.
  7. To move a display mode up or down in the list, right-click it and select Move Up or Move Down from the pop-up menu.
  8. To set a given display mode as default, right-click it and select Make Default from the pop-up menu.
    The default display mode will open first every time the query is run.
