Adding an execute object action
The execute object action allows you to automatically execute queries, a visual report, procedure, or quick report, and export, mail, or print it.
About this task
Procedure
- Open a task in the Task List window.
- Click Add Action. The Action Wizard opens.
- Specify a name for the action in the Action name field, click Execute object, and then click Next. The Specify object page opens.
- Select the type of object that you want to execute.
- Specify the location of the object. There are
two options:
- To specify the static source location of the object, click Path and then click the ellipsis (...) at the bottom right of the Source area. The Open window opens.
- Navigate to and select the object and click Finish. The Open window closes.
- To specify a conditional source location for the object, click Formula and then click the ellipsis (...). The Formula editor opens.
- Specify the formula to use to determine the location of the object and click OK. The Formula editor closes.
- Select Set a new data source check box to specify a particular data source against which you want to execute the object. Then click the ellipsis (...), the Add Data Source window opens, select the required data source and click OK.
- To add an available data source, click Add Data Source. The Add Data Source window opens.
- Navigate to and select the data source that you want to add, specify a login name and password for the data source, and click OK. The Add Data Source window closes.
- Click Next. The Specify operations page opens.
- Click Add Operation. The Operation Wizard opens.
- Select an operation and click Next.
- Specify the options for the selected operation and click Finish. The Operation Wizard closes.
- When you have finished adding all of the operations that you want the action to run, click Finish. The Action Wizard closes and control returns to the Task window.
- Click OK. The Task windows closes and control returns to the Task List window.
- Click OK. The Task List window closes.
