Creating a synonym

You can create a synonym by using the portal interface.

Procedure

In the Database Administration view upper pane, select the database in which you want to create a synonym.
In the lower pane, select the Synonyms tab.
Right-click in the synonym list and select Create Synonym.
On IBM® Netezza® systems that support multiple schemas in a database, select the Schema where you want to define the synonym.
Specify the synonym name.
Specify the name of the table or view for which you are creating this synonym. For more information about synonyms, see the CREATE SYNONYM command in the IBM Netezza Database User’s Guide.
Click OK to create the synonym.

Results

The new synonym is added to the list. If the synonym name sorts to a different page than the one you are currently displaying, you might not see the synonym listed in the current pane.
