Preparing hardware

Procedure

  1. Attach seven HDDs to onboard ServeRAID M5110 controller:
    1. Create three RAID1 volumes. Select 256 as segment size.
    2. Configure one HDD as hot spare.
  2. Attach five HDDs to additional ServeRAID M5110 controller:
    1. Create two RAID1 volumes. Select 256 as segment size.
    2. Configure one HDD as hot spare.
  3. Configure both controllers to enable cache:
    • Read cache policy must be set to Read Ahead.
    • Write policy must be set to Always Write Ahead. It is set to Write with BBU by default.
    • Disk cache must be set to Enabled.
    • Input/Ouptut must be set to Cached.
