Generating insights with Sidekick

Access the Sidekick common area for contextual recommendations, insights, assistance, and guidance. Sidekick travels with you across participating products so that you can work on them, access information, and see adjacent capabilities in one place.

Your Sidekick experience depends on the products and enabled capabilities that are available to you.

Overview

In the Overview tab, see recommended next steps, adjacent capabilities, and related information from other participating products. Discover capabilities when they are relevant.

  • View teasers for adjacent products or capabilities that might help with the task you are working on. Teasers are shown based on factors such as your available entitlements, relevant usage signals, and where you are in your product journey.
  • View widgets with correlated data from other participating products. These widgets bring relevant information from across your products into one place. Instead of manually checking multiple consoles, you can view related context directly in the Sidekick panel.
  • View guidance to access steps for onboarding, product setup, and other common workflows. Interactive coach marks are displayed within the application.
Insights

Analyze the data on the page and generate an insight report. The report summarizes key results, assesses the system state, highlights potential business impact, and suggests next steps.

Over time, insight reports can accumulate to create a broader historical view of your environment. Instead of treating each report as an isolated snapshot, you can build a record of observations and findings.

  1. Generate reports from the Overview experience when relevant contextual insights are available.
    1. Open Sidekick and go to the Overview tab or the Insights tab.
    2. Select Generate insights. Sidekick closes temporarily while it analyzes the page. Generate insights analyzes the data of the page and generates an insight report based on metrics, visualizations, and other data on the screen.
    3. When you see Report is ready, select View report. Depending on the page that you analyzed, the report summarizes results, such as assessing the system state, highlighting potential business impact, and suggesting next steps.
  2. Review generated reports in the Insights tab, where you can see the analysis that is associated with your work. Each insight includes two main sections:
    • The Analysis section contains a summary of the most important findings, potential impacts, and recommended next steps.
    • The Findings section contains detailed results for each data set on the analyzed page, such as metrics or graphs. To explore a finding, select Tell me more.
  3. Click the Insights tab to view your insight history. In the prompt field, ask about a specific insight or ask to summarize trends across multiple insights. For example, you might use one of the following prompts to explore your insights:
    • Summarize any trends or patterns from my three most recent insights.
    • For an incident timeline, summarize the <insight name> insight in fewer than 150 words.
  4. To learn more about a finding or suggestion, click Tell me more within a report section.
Assistant

Chat with Assistant about questions and work that span more than one participating product.

  1. To chat with Assistant, start a conversation from the Assistant, Overview, or Insights tab in Sidekick.
  2. Then, ask questions and work on tasks that span more than one product. Instead of manually moving to each step, use Assistant to help coordinate work across participating products in a more guided, task-oriented way.
Solis uses an orchestrator to convert your request into a sequence of steps across products. The orchestrator can work with the following information:
    • OpenAPI Specifications describe product APIs in a structured way.
    • Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers show product tools and actions for conversational workflows.
    • Agent-to-agent communication allows Solis to interact with external or product-specific agents.
    • The Data Access Layer provides structured access to data across participating products.

Depending on the participating products and your access, you can use Assistant for the following tasks:
    • Retrieve information from participating products.
    • Ask product-related questions.
    • Get guidance on next steps.
    • Automate repetitive work.
    • Coordinate work across participating products.
Guidance
View step-by-step guidance for common tasks and workflows. Learn about product capabilities, discover features, and complete tasks without leaving the application.
  1. Select the Guides tab.
  2. Browse available guides and select a task. Based on the current application context, you see guidance throughout the workflow. Coach marks identify relevant interface elements and instructions for each step.
    • For example, if Create a resource group is available, and you select it, the guidance directs you through the workflow, including navigation, data entry, configuration, and confirmation steps. The guidance adapts to your progress and gives contextual instructions as you complete the task.
  3. Learn workflows through direct interaction with the product and increase your awareness of available features.
