Enabling the business user workflow dashboard for business processes

The business user workflow dashboard is a custom tool. The dashboard provides users a categorized graphical summary of their current tasks to enable a better view into what tasks they need to complete.

Overview of Business user workflow dashboard

A solution implementer can choose to use the dashboard tool as is, or enhance it further using the available source code to meet their specific solution requirements.

The dashboard provides a central view of the current tasks for a business user who is a performer in one or more steps in one or more workflows in Product Master.

Workflow Activity Summaries My Current Activity Totals view provides the total number of entries from all of the steps across all of the collaboration areas that the given user is a performer of.

Workflow Overview Portal The Workflow Overview Portal provides a list of collaborations areas that the user is a performer of with the total count of entries that are awaiting processing, count of entries reserved to the given user and a count of entries awaiting approval. It also provides a reading of the average duration that entries have been awaiting processing in their current step.

For the total count of entries awaiting processing, a further breakdown of entries by their status is available. The status of an entry is defined as follows:
Red
Critical - entries have been waiting in this step for more than 80% of the allocated time.
Yellow
Urgent - entries have been waiting in this step between 50% - 80% of the allocated time.
Blue
Current - entries have been waiting in this step between 1% - 50% of the allocated time.
The allocated time for an entry is derived from the timeout duration that is specified for the workflow step the entry is in. For steps that do not have any specified timeout duration, all the entries in those steps are considered to be Current.

The business user workflow dashboard offers the following features to the business user:
  • Complete graphical view of currently assigned entries and tasks with priorities.
  • An ability to view pertinent details such as time the entries have spent awaiting processing.
  • Provides a breakdown of entries that are assigned to the user or need approval along with status of all the entries in a workflow.
  • Added functionality to allow users to delegate, reserve, and release entries directly from the details pane without having to open an item.
  • Ability to easily launch entries in single or multi edit views.
  • Ability to search for items or categories across all collaboration areas.
    Note: Only the collaboration areas, where the user is a performer of at least one step, are included in the search.
