Editing categories in a hierarchy
You edit a category by providing values for its attributes.
Before you begin
Procedure
- Expand the catalog module in the left pane navigation to view the list of categories.
- Click on a category to open in the right pane.
- Modify the attributes of the category. Note: If you have an attribute whose type is string enumeration rule, and whose value is dependent on another attribute, then you must click the drop-down. The string enumeration rule is evaluated using the most up-to-date values of attributes on the client, even those that have not been saved.
- Focus on the attribute field to modify an attribute of the category.
- Provide values for the attributes inline in the attribute field for certain attribute types that accept inline input. Alternatively, click on the icon visible at the right of the attribute field to open a pop-up editor where available. Provide values and click Ok to accept the changes.
- Click Save.
You can also make multiple changes to multiple categories. To make changes to a specified attribute across multiple categories, which was previously referred to as the "fill-down" capability, you use the copy and paste features in the Collaborative MDM user interface:- Select the cell. Ensure that you select the cell itself, not the contents in the cell.
- Right-click and choose Copy Cell. Alternatively, use Ctrl+c to copy the contents of the cell.
- Select the rows that you want to update the attributes with this data that you just copied. Use standard Windows multi-select options, for example, select a row, then press Shift and select the last row in the set.
- Right-click and choose Paste. The paste shows you what attribute will be pasted. Alternatively, use Ctrl+v to paste the previously copied contents.
- Click Save.
If you are editing through the Single edit pop-up window of the Multi-edit screen, perform these steps:- Right-click on the attribute field and choose Copy Attribute.
- Close the Single edit pop-up window to return to Multi-edit screen.
- Select the rows that you want to update the attributes with this data that you just copied. Use standard Windows multi-select options, for example, select a row, then Shift and select the last row in the set.
- Right-click and choose Paste. The paste shows you what attribute will be pasted.
- Click Save.
