Back up and recovery
Data in the Product Master can be rendered unusable because of hardware or software failure. To prevent the potential loss of data, set up a back up and recovery plan, which includes scheduling regular back ups. You must back up data whenever a large data feed file is imported or a large amount of data is entered or modified.
The process of backing up and recovering data consists of following tasks:
- File system back up and recovery
- Database back up and recovery
File system back up and recovery
To back up your system, back up the $TOP folder as defined in the common.properties file. Schedule daily back ups because the files change frequently in these folders. You must have a back up schedule that consists of a regular full back up and daily incremental back ups.
To recover your system and the supporting files, you must restore the missing files or folders to their original locations, and then start the Product Master.
Database back up and recovery
You can use several methods to back up your database, such as exports, hot back ups, cold back ups, or mirroring. Use any method that is convenient to you for backing up the database schema, as defined in the common.properties file.
