Persona-based UI

The Persona-based UI provides an enhanced user interface, which includes improved navigation experience, search, and collaboration areas on a home page depending upon your role and privileges. You can choose Persona-based UI depending on the managing task that you want to perform.

The Persona-based UI of the Product Master supports following personas. Admin, Full Admin, Content Editor, Catalog Manager, Category Manager, Digital Asset Manager, Merchandiser, Solution Developer, and Vendor.

Admin and Full Admin

These users are the Administrators of the application. They are responsible for managing the specifications based on the business requirements and have access to the entire system.

The user with this role has permission to perform the following tasks.
  • Access the workflow process to which the user is assigned as a performer.
  • Approve or Reject items that are sent by Vendors.
  • Upload Digital assets.
  • Link assets to items.
  • Create, modify, and delete items directly in the catalog.
  • Create, modify, and delete categories.
  • Create, modify, and delete specifications.
  • Create, modify, and delete rules.
  • Create and delete the search.
  • Perform the Free Text Search (FTS).
  • Access all the dashboards available in the application.
  • Enable or disable FTS and schedule indexing of data.
  • Enable or disable the chatbot feature for a company.

Basic

Basic has basic non-administrator access in the application.

Content Editor

Content Editor user is responsible for adding and manipulating the data into the system. The user with this role has the authority to create and modify data only through the workflow process that has been created for the user that is on which the user is the performer. This user has limited access to the application. This user does not have permission to directly operate on the catalog entries.

The user with this role has permission to perform the following tasks.
  • Access the workflow process to which the user is assigned as a performer.
  • View items in the catalog.
  • Create and delete the search.
  • Perform the FTS search.
  • Access the Workflow Summary dashboard.

Catalog Manager

Catalog Manager is responsible for adding and manipulation the data in the system directly into the catalog. This user can also add and update hierarchies and categories. The user might also be responsible for approving content within the collaboration areas.

The user with this role has permission to perform the following tasks.
  • Access the workflow process to which the user is assigned as a performer.
  • Create, Modify, and delete items in the catalog.
  • Create and delete the search.
  • Perform the FTS search.
  • Access Audit history, Data Sanity, Vendor Summary, and Workflow Summary dashboards.

Category Manager

Category Manager is responsible for hierarchy maintenance and modifications. The user with this role has the authority to add and update hierarchies. The user has limited access to the catalogs. This user can add, modify, delete, search, and map categories. The categories can be created by using the import jobs and the user also has the authority for approvals on the collaboration areas.

The user with this role has permission to perform the following tasks.
  • Access the workflow process to which the user is assigned as a performer.
  • Create, modify, and delete categories.
  • Create and delete the search.
  • Perform the FTS search.
  • Access to the Workflow Summary dashboard.

Digital Asset Manager (DAM)

Digital asset manager is responsible for managing the digital assets in the system. The user has access only to the Digital Asset Catalog and Hierarchy.

The user with this role has permission to perform the following tasks.
  • Upload, modify, and delete digital assets.
  • Link assets to the items.
  • Search digital assets.
  • Perform the FTS search for the digital assets.
  • Access the DAM summary and Audit history dashboards.
  • Access the Digital Asset Catalog only in the Data explorer section.

GDS Supply Editor

Global Data Synchronization (GDS) Supply Editor is responsible to create products and publish the products to the datapool for GDS.

Merchandiser manager

Merchandiser manager is responsible for associating the correct assets to the products in the system.

The user with this role has permission to perform the following tasks.
  • Upload and modify digital assets through a dedicated workflow process.
  • Link assets to the items through a dedicated workflow process.
  • Search digital assets and search on any catalog if given special access.
  • Perform the FTS search.
  • Access to the DAM Summary dashboard.
  • Access to the Digital Asset Catalog and other catalogs if given special access in the Data explorer section.

Service Account

Service Account is responsible to perform activities, which are normally performed by external services like connectors (Third party services by using the REST API interface).

Solution Developer

Solution Developer is responsible for working on the specifications that are shared by the solution architects. This user has almost access almost like that of the Admin user.

The user with this role has permission to perform the following tasks.
  • Access the workflow process to which the user is assigned as a performer.
  • Upload digital assets.
  • Link assets to items.
  • View items in the catalog.
  • Create, modify, and delete specifications.
  • Create, modify, and delete rules.
  • Create and delete the search.
  • Perform the FTS search.
  • Access DAM Summary, User Summary, and Vendor Summary dashboards.

Vendor

The user with this role is an external user and these users access the IBM Product Master Application by using the Vendor portal. This role has restricted access to the application.

The user with this role has permission to perform the following tasks.
  • Can add or update items only through the collaboration area to which the user has access.
  • View the user items through search only.
