Setting a date attribute type without creating a time stamp

By default, in IBM® Product Master specs, date attribute types have an attached time stamp. For example, the date field value shows "3/2/2007 1:34 PM", but you want to display just the date (3/2/2007) without the time (1:34 PM).

About this task

Changing the date format settings, from Home > My Settings > General settings > User Select for the Date Input Format and Date Output Format fields apply globally and do not allow for finer control of the date attribute type.

When you create a spec, follow these steps to set each date attribute type in Product Master to Date only, which eliminates the time stamp.

Procedure

  1. For the attribute, in the Type list, select Date.
  2. From the list, select Date only and then click the + sign.
  3. In the details window, select the Date only checkbox, and click Save.

Results

Now when this attribute is displayed in the user interface or in search results, only the date (without the time stamp) is displayed.
Important:
  • The data is always stored with the time stamp. This specification affects the display of the data in the user interface only.
  • The date attribute format supports only a value range of 100 - 9999 years.
