Steps that are not included in a workflow

Some steps belong in a Product Master Server solution, and some are done outside of the solution. You need workflow steps only for tasks that are done within a Product Master Server solution; that is, tasks that generally include an edit to an item.

There are two different types of performers of a process. You can have a human perform a process or a system or application perform a process. The process needs to be manually performed, or it must be a process that can be automated. You need to identify which steps have a place in the Product Master Server solution and define those steps. You can identify only steps where an edit of some type is performed on an item. The purpose of the steps in a Product Master Server solution workflow is to perform an edit of an item. If a process flow does not include an edit of an item, then it most likely will not be included in a Product Master Server solution workflow.

Step that is not included in a workflow

In the example of the clothing store, the buyer meets with the suppliers to purchase merchandise for the store. The buyer and supplier hold discussions and make agreements on which items are to be purchased. These steps are not covered by a workflow step. When the buyer enters the items that were purchased into the system, there will be a workflow step.
