Authenticate with Advanced Business Rules

Advanced Business Rules solution requires the users to authenticate with Operational Decision Manager at most one time during the entire Product Master session. You are presented with the login screen when you are attempting to work with rules for the first time in that Product Master session.

About this task

The solution designer can choose to use shared credentials in Operational Decision Manager for certain actions through the Advanced Business Rules integration user interface.

You can specify a shared user name and password for viewing rules and authoring. This option allows the Advanced Business Rules solution to provide the shared Advanced Business Rules credentials (user name and password) and also specify whether:
  • Never use the shared credentials for viewing rules and authoring
  • Use the shared credentials only for viewing rules
  • Use the shared credentials for both viewing and authoring

Depending on the requirements of the Advanced Business Rules solution implementation, the appropriate level of credential sharing can be set up. For example, specifying the shared credentials for viewing actions only can allow the Content Approver to view the rules for a product without logging in to Operational Decision Manager. However, Content Authors are still required to authenticate as themselves before they modify any rules.

The shared credentials are specified through the dc_shared_user and dc_shared_password configuration options in the Advanced Business Rules configuration file at $TOP/etc/default/wodm/config/wodm-config.xml.
