Search using the list view
From the list view in the left navigation pane, you can search for the modules catalogs, hierarchies and organizations. The classic catalog module and hierarchy module come with two distinct views, tree view and list view. The list view is designed to address a major usability limitation associated with the tree view on catalogs with large number of sub categories.
About this task
The following list
describes the list view advantages:
- It keeps track of parent categories on a branch of a hierarchy tree.
- It provides node level pagination support to categories.
- Displays one list of immediate child categories of the last visited parent category. Because the categories are all immediate children, no indentation is necessary on the presentation of categories.
- Limits the display of child category nodes to a maximum of ten nodes at a time. The rest of the sibling child nodes are accessible through pagination.
The following list describes the known
limitations of the list view.
- Within a catalog, you cannot check out an item to a collaboration area.
- Within a catalog, you cannot cut, copy, insert before, remove or delete an item or category through the pop-up menu.
- Within a hierarchy, you cannot cut, copy, insert before, remove or delete a category through the pop-up menu.
- Within a organization, you cannot cut, copy, paste, remove or delete an organization through the pop-up menu.
- Within a organization, you cannot cut, copy, or remove a user through the pop-up menu.
Procedure
- Right click in the white space for a catalog or hierarchy module in the left pane navigation.
- Select List View in the right-click menu. The list view displays.
