You can create a category within a category hierarchy.
A category hierarchy is a container with a hierarchical structure.
Before you begin
Ensure that you have a catalog with a hierarchy already created.
You should not create a category with the name Unassigned
.
About this task
While adding a new category, or cloning a category, the parents
of this category will be displayed in the Add categories section.
Once the new category is saved, the parent categories will be displayed
in the Parent categories section.Note: On the
Single edit screen, if you choose to clone a categorized item, click
the Categories tab. The mapped category appears
in the Add category to categories screen. After
you have successfully saved the mapped category, the cloned item will
then display in the Parent categories screen.
Procedure
- Expand the catalog module in the left pane navigation to
view the list of hierarchies.
- Right-click on a hierarchy, and select Add Category to
create a category under selected hierarchy.
- Provide values for the category fields in the right window
pane.
- Optional: Add a category.
- Expand the catalog module in the left-pane navigation
to view the list of hierarchies. Right-click the link next to the
hierarchy that lists the number of categories, and select Edit
All. The multi-edit screen opens and a list of categories
display.
- Select Add. The new category
is added to the bottom of the list. The Add button will only be available
if the user has the privileges for adding categories to the hierarchy

Provide the values for the attributes of the category. Do not use Unassigned as a
category name.
- Click Save.
When using
the new business user interfaces, the Checkout button
is disabled until you save the category.
