Using Spec console

Access the Spec console from the left pane by Data model manager > Spec console and Attribute collection. The Primary, Secondary, Lookup, File, Destination, Sub Spec, and Script tabs display the various specs that are uploaded in the application.

Prerequisites

Following are configurable predefined limits while you create or update a spec.
  • Maximum number of specs is 500.
  • Maximum occurrences in an attribute are 50.
  • Maximum number of attributes is 500.
  • Maximum nested grouping levels are 8.
To update the limits, tweak the values in the restConfig.properties file at the mdmui/dynamic/mdmrest folder.

Tasks

You can perform following tasks in the Spec console page.
Refresh Click to refresh and reflect the updates that are done in the Spec console page.
Import Select a spec, and click to upload a spec in the XML file format. The Upload spec XML pop-up window opens.
  1. Select Overwrite if you want to overwrite the existing spec XML file.
  2. In the File field, click Browse to select the new spec XML file.
  3. To upload the new spec XML file, click Upload.
Export Select a spec, and click to download the spec XML file in a compressed format with the exportSpec_YYYYMMDD_HHMMSS.zip label. In the XML, if you edit the value of the <spec_name> and <value> fields, you can import the edited XML file to create a new spec.
Note: You can batch export specs.
Publish Click to publish specs from the IBM® Product Master to the IBM Watson® Knowledge Catalog. For more information, see Publishing specs to the IBM Watson Knowledge Catalog.
Currently not supported for File, Destination, Script, and  Sub specs.
Delete Select a spec, and click . The Delete confirmation pop-up window opens. To delete the spec, click Yes.
Note: If the spec you want to delete has any associations (dependencies), you need to remove the associations to successfully delete the spec.
Select all Click to select all the specs.
On the right side of the page, click to filter the specs. In the Search field enter the spec name, and click Apply.
Sort Use the drop-down list to sort the spec names by ascending or descending order. Default value is ascending order.
Click to toggle between the card and grid view. The selected view displays an Orange highlight. The default value is card view.
Show more Click to display more specs.

By default, the page displays 40 specs and supports lazy loading for better user experience. You can keep loading more specs through Show more, but after you click Refresh, you see only 120 specs. You can configure the number of spec cards that Spec console page displays through the specPageSize property in the config.json file.
