Choosing a locale

Admin UI adheres to ISO Globalization Standards and supports the various locales for the user interface. Locales are created based on language or country pairs.

There are three levels of localization:
  • User interface localization
  • Metadata localization
  • Data localization
Locales are created based on language or country pairs. The Admin UI supports the following languages for the user interface:
  • en_US: English (US)
  • de_DE: German (Germany)
  • el_GR: Greek (Greece)
  • es_ES: Spanish (Spain)
  • fr_FR: French (France)
  • it_IT: Italian (Italy)
  • ja_JP: Japanese (Japan)
  • ko_KR: Korean (Korea)
  • pl_PL: Polish (Poland)
  • pt_BR: Portuguese (Brazil)
  • ru_RU: Russian (Russia)
  • tr_TR: Turkish (Turkey)
  • zh_CN: Chinese (Simplified)
  • zh_TW: Chinese (Traditional)
You can localize data to any language or country pair, including those locales that are not listed, by adding the locale to the available locales list in My Settings and then by localizing the fields of the spec of the catalog or hierarchy.
Localization is configured at the spec level (primary, lookup table, or secondary spec), therefore, you can localize a single node or multiple nodes and set localized display names for each node. You must restrict the displayed attributes in item and category screens to the selected locale in My Settings.
Note: If you localize pre-defined specs such as the Catalog Entry spec or Catalog Entry Categories spec, the localized attributes are not added to the existing attribute collections automatically. You must update the respective attribute collections part of the Tabbed View to include these localized attributes.
Proceed as follows to specify a locale:
  1. Click Data Model Manager > Security > Company Attributes.
  2. Select a locale, and click Add to add the locale to the Selected Locales column, and click Save. Click Remove to remove a locale. Similarly, you can also specify currency.

Configuring language-specific attributes

You can localize attribute values for any catalog attribute or hierarchy node. Locales are created based on language and country pairs, which provide variances across countries, for example US English and British English. You can localize a single attribute value or display name.

Proceed as follows:
  1. Ensure that the required locale is added to the list of Selected Locales.
    1. Open the spec and enable the Localized option.
    2. Select the locale and click Add.
    3. Click the attribute to localize the attributes display name.
    4. Enable the Localized option under the Attribute Collection Associations section. The attribute is localized for all the locales.
  2. Click Data Model Manager > Security > Company Attributes. After the required locales are added, click Save in the company Attributes user interface.
