Associating values to the domain entities using the user interface

After you have restarted the application server, log into the Product Master user interface.

You can set the values for the domain entities for a catalog or hierarchy using the catalog attributes or hierarchy attributes page respectively.

You can associate a domain entity specification with a catalog or hierarchy by identifying it as the domain entity to be used with the item. This domain specification applies to all of the entries in that container.

You can also associate a domain entity specification to only a specific set of items or categories in a catalog or hierarchy. This is achieved by a two-step process.
  1. Identify a non-localized, indexed attribute from the primary spec of the container as the domain entity attribute field.
  2. Ensure that the correct domain entity to be used for that item or category is set as the value of the domain attribute in that item or category.

Catalog attributes

Right-click on a catalog in the left pane navigation and select Catalog Attributes. If you need to specify the domain specific for all of the items in the catalog, in the Domain Entity to be used with items in the catalog, select a value of your domain entity from the drop down menu.

If you need to specify the item specific domain specification, in the Catalog domain entity attribute field, pick a spec attribute that is of String type and indexed (searchable) from the drop down menu. The actual domain entity value for an item would be set on the chosen domain entity attribute on the item.

Hierarchy attributes

Right-click on a hierarchy in the left pane navigation and select Hierarchy Attributes. If you need to specify the domain specific for all of the items in the hierarchy, in the Domain Entity to be used with categories in the hierarchy, select a value of your domain entity from the drop down menu.

If you need to specify the category specific domain specification, in the Hierarchy domain entity attribute field, pick a spec attribute that is of String type and indexed (searchable) from the drop down menu. The actual domain entity value for a category would be set on the chosen domain entity attribute on the category.
