Model views

You can change the view of your process model to display a more detailed view of a specific type of information. You can choose the following model views:
Each view presents the following information in each activity box:
  • The name of the activity
  • The roles by which the activity is carried out
  • The metric information (like an amount or a percentage).
Click on a activity to see its detailed statistics.

Frequency view

The frequency view mode displays the process model based on frequency of a given activity.

You can find the following information in the activity boxes:
  • The darker shade of an activity box emphasizes activities with more completions. In NextGen models, the donut chart also represents this information. You can decide whether you want to see a colored activity box or a colored chart by going to View options > Color filled activities.

  • The completions are represented by the frequency number within the activity box.

Note: Depending on the activity complexity that you set in the View options pane, the process view might hide or reveal activities. If you set a low activity complexity in Frequency view, the process view hides the low-frequency activities and connects only the high-frequency activities. This can result in an empty or low value between the activities in a process model.
You can find the following information on the transition arrows:
  • Bold arrows emphasize the most frequent transitions.

  • The frequency number on the arrows shows the number of process flows between two activities.

Note: The transition arrows show the number of process flows between two connected activities that are currently displayed in the model and ignore all hidden activities.

Rework view

The rework view displays the performance view of the process based on the average number of times an activity is reworked during each case. Reworking means the repetition of the same activity inside the same case.

You can find the following information in the activity boxes:
  • The darker shade of an activity box represents activities that were reworked more often. In NextGen models, the donut chart also represents this information. You can decide whether you want to see a colored activity box or a colored chart by going to View options > Color filled activities.
  • The reworked activities are represented by the case rework number within the activity box.
  • In brackets, the case rework number displays the number of times the activity is repeated for each case.

The bolded transition arrows emphasize the most frequent reworked activities.

Duration view

The duration view displays the process model based on the duration for the following categories:
  • Average
  • Median
  • Minimum
  • Maximum
  • Weighted
Tip: When you select Duration, you can set KPI palette to On in the View options pane. Setting KPI palette to On activates the KPI analysis view based on the defined KPI settings. For more information on KPI settings, see KPI settings.

You can find the following information in the activity boxes:

  • The darker shade of the activity box emphasizes activities with longer service time (longer activity duration). In NextGen models, the donut chart also represents this information. You can decide whether you want to see a colored activity box or a colored chart by going to View options > Color filled activities.
  • The service time is also represented by the Activity duration number within the activity box.
You can find the following information on the transition arrows:
  • The bold arrows emphasize the transitions that have the longest wait time between activities.
  • The duration on the arrows reflects how long it takes to transition from one activity to another.

Cost view

The cost view displays the average cost of each activity based on predefined cost settings.

You can find the following information in the activity boxes:
  • The darker shade of the activity box emphasizes activities with higher cost. In NextGen models, the donut chart also represents this information. You can decide whether you want to see a colored activity box or a colored chart by going to View options > Color filled activities.
  • The activity cost is represented by the Activity cost number, which is a cost per activity case in the given currency.

Overall cost view

The overall cost view displays the overall cost of each activity based on predefined cost settings.

You can find the following information in the activity boxes:
  • The darker shade of the activity box emphasizes activities with the higher overall cost. In NextGen models, the donut chart also represents this information. You can decide whether you want to see a colored activity box or a colored chart by going to View options > Color filled activities.
  • The overall cost is represented by the Overall activity cost number within the activity box.
  • The overall activity cost is calculated by the following cost model: Total Activity Cost = Activity Standard cost + (AVG Working Time * Avg Resource or Role Cost)

Automated instance ratio view

The automated instance ratio view displays the percentage of an activity that is automated (how many instances of this activity were automated).

You can find the following information in the activity boxes:
  • The darker shade of the activity box emphasizes activities with higher automated instance ratio. In NextGen models, the donut chart also represents this information. You can decide whether you want to see a colored activity box or a colored chart by going to View options > Color filled activities.
  • The automated instance ratio is represented by the Automated instance ratio percentage number within the activity box.
