Process variants

The process variants of the project are displayed as tiles. Each tile represents various activities of the process. It also indicates the number of steps and the average duration that an activity takes to complete.

Visualizing the distinct activities in the process model

You can access the Process variants panel by clicking the icon on the header.

You can sort the list of variants by the following options:

Frequency
Displays the percentage and number of cases in which the activity occurs.
Average duration
Displays the duration that an activity takes to complete.
Tip: You can display the selected data in an ascending or a descending order.

In the tile, select the checkbox corresponding to a case or activity to view the path that an activity takes to complete.

Viewing the details of a variant

To view the details of a variant, complete the following steps:

  1. Open the Process variants panel.
  2. On the variant tile, click the Options menu.
  3. Select Variant details.
The Variant details page displays the following information:
  • the number and percentage of cases that have this variant
  • the steps that this variant consists of

Creating filters to include or exclude a variant

You can use the Process variants panel to filter your model and see only specific variants of your process.

Creating a single-variant filter

To create a filter consisting of one variant, complete the following steps:

  1. Open the Process variants panel.
  2. On the variant tile, click the Options menu.
  3. Select one of the following options:
    • To create a filter and display the processes that include this specific variant, click Create filter to include.
    • To create a filter and display the processes that exclude the specific variant, click Create filter to exclude.

Adding a multiple-variant filter

To create a filter consisting of multiple variants, complete the following steps:

  1. Open the Process variants panel.
  2. Select the check boxes corresponding to the variants you want in your filter.
  3. Click Filter to see statistics.
  4. Give your filter a name.
  5. Set the toggle to one of the following options:
    • On to exclude the matched cases.
    • Off to include the matched cases.
  6. Click Create filter.
