Organization backup
An organization backup provides a comprehensive solution that includes all projects and organization-level resources in a single package. This enables you to recreate an entire organization with all its projects and configurations.
What's included in the organization backup:
- All NextGen projects with their IDP backup files
- Object tables metadata
- Table joins metadata
- Schedule sources for object tables
- Event logs and object table data (when below size threshold)
Organization backup details
Schedule sources for object tables are automatically backed up at the organization level. After restoring an organization backup, object table data (which is not included in the backup) can be fully repopulated by re-triggering the schedule sources. This ensures that your data connections are preserved and can be used to reload data after restoration.
During the export process, the UI displays the estimated organization export size. If the total export size exceeds the defined Data size threshold, you will be informed that the data will not be exported due to size limitations. The organization structure, configurations, and metadata will still be exported.
After importing an organization backup without data, you can repopulate the data by doing the following actions:
- Re-uploading event logs manually
- Re-triggering schedule sources for object tables
- Reactivating data streams
Exporting an organization backup
Do the following steps to export an organization backup:
- Navigate to the Projects tab.
- Locate the organization you want to back up.
- Click the drop-down menu on the organization header.
- Select Export backup.
- Review the estimated export size and any warnings about data inclusion.
- Confirm the export to download the
.idpfile.
After exporting, you can import this backup to recreate the organization in another environment or restore it after a system migration.
