KPI benchmarks

By defining the key performance indicators (KPI) settings, you can visualize which activities are risky or critical for the process KPIs. Setting the KPI thresholds also helps you view the statistics in the Cockpits page. You can manage the KPI settings in the Data & Settings > KPIs > KPI benchmarks tab.

Note: Some settings are not available for NextGen projects.

Overall process KPIs

You can manage the following KPI thresholds of your processes:

Case duration thresholds
Acceptable time limit that can elapse between the start and the end of the process.
Case cost thresholds
Acceptable cost limit that can occur between the start and the end of the process. The cost limit is defined by the cost models such as activity working time, activity cost, resource cost, and role cost.

Custom metric KPIs

You can manage the KPI thresholds of your custom metrics. This option is only available if you first create some custom metrics.

Default activity KPIs

You can manage the following KPI thresholds of your activities:

Activity throughput thresholds
Acceptable time limit that can elapse when it passes through an activity (waiting time that includes execution).
Activity wait queue thresholds
Acceptable time limit of the waiting queue.
Activity duration thresholds
Acceptable time limit of activity duration.
Resource allocation thresholds
Acceptable limit of resources allocation for the activity. This threshold is not available for NextGen projects.

Specific activity KPIs

If you want to set the KPI thresholds for the specific activities in your process, use the following steps:

  1. Go to Data & Settings > KPIs > Default activity KPIs.

  2. Click Edit activity KPIs to view the Edit activity KPIs dialog.

  3. Select the activity from the dropdown list in the Activity field.

  4. Set the values for the following fields:
    Activity throughput thresholds
    Acceptable time limit that can elapse when it passes through an activity (waiting time including execution).
    Activity wait queue thresholds
    Acceptable time limit of the waiting queue.
    Activity duration thresholds
    Acceptable time limit of activity duration.
    Resource allocation thresholds
    Acceptable limit of resources allocation for the activity that compares the current number of allocated resources with the maximum number available for the activity. This threshold is not available for NextGen projects.
  5. Save the changes.

  6. To complete loading the default values for specific activity KPIs, click Apply in the confirmation dialog.
