Data cleansing
You can use the Data cleansing options in IBM Process Mining to improve the representation of the process in the process analysis. The following two features are available in the Data cleansing page:
Data source filters
You can use the Data source filters feature to include or exclude specific cases based on your filter conditions. The filtered dataset is treated as the baseline across all components of your project.
Adding a data source filter

Open a project.

Go to Data & Settings > Data cleansing.

Click Add filter.

In the Add Data source filter dialog, do one of the following actions:
- Select one of the existing filters.
- Follow these steps to create a new filter:
- Click Add filter.

Select the Performance filter, Timespan filter, or Process flow filter.
- Configure the details of your filter. To learn more about how to apply a specific type of filter, see Types of filters.
- Optional: Create more filters. You can create multiple filters before clicking Apply. All the filters that you create are visible at the top of the window.
- Click Add and Apply.
If you create a Data Source filter such as a Performance, Process Flow, or Timespan filter, the Data Source will appear in the backup options. For detailed instructions on backing up your project, see Backup & History.
Editing a data source filter
- Open a project.
- Go to Data & Settings > Data cleansing.
- In the Data source filters section, click the Edit icon corresponding to the filter you want to change.
- Edit the details of your filter. To learn more about a specific type of filter, see Types of filters.
- Save and apply changes.
Deleting a data source filter
- Open a project.
- Go to Data & Settings > Data cleansing.
- In the Data source filters section, click the Delete icon corresponding to the activity you want to delete.
- In the dialog, click Delete and apply changes.
Alias
Adding an alias for an activity

Open a project.

Go to Data & Settings > Data cleansing.

Click Add activity alias.

In the Add activity alias dialog, complete the following steps:
- In the Activity field, select the activity that you want to rename.
- In the Alias field, type the new name for the activity.
- Add and apply changes.

Optional: Click Go to the analysis to see your changes in the process or stay in the Data cleansing section to view the list of alias created for the project.
Editing an alias of an activity
- Open a project.
- Go to Data & Settings > Data cleansing.
- In the Alias section, click the Edit icon corresponding to the activity you want to change.
- In the Alias field of the Edit activity alias dialog, type the new name of the activity.
- Save and apply changes.
Deleting an alias of an activity
- Open a project.
- Go to Data & Settings > Data cleansing.
- In the Alias section, click the Delete icon corresponding to the activity you want to delete.
- In the dialog, click Delete and apply changes.
Ignore activity
In IBM Process Mining, you can configure the process analysis to ignore specific activities that are not relevant to your business requirements. You can choose the activities to ignore in the model and process analysis.
Adding ignored activities
- Open a project.
- Go to Data & Settings > Data cleansing.
- Click Change ignored activities.
- Select one or more activities from the list.
- Save and apply changes.
- Optional: Click Go to the analysis to see your changes in the process or stay in the Data cleansing section to view the list of ignored activities created for the project.
Editing ignored activities
- Open a project.
- Go to Data & Settings > Data cleansing.
- Click Change ignored activities.
- Clear the activities that you do not want to be ignored and check that activities to ignore.
- Save and apply changes.
