Exploring the recommended actions
The Recommended actions tab in the investigative report provides a set of remedial actions to address the nonconformance observed in an activity or contextual data in the process. Generally, Prescriptive Process Mining recommends four different actions, such as proactive monitoring, reactive monitoring, focused investigation of deviating factors, and task mining.
Each recommended action is provided as a tile on the Recommended actions tab. Each tile provides a brief description of the action. Prescriptive Process Mining generates these descriptions based on your process. From these descriptions, you can identify the areas of focus of the action, which are also the major factors that affect the process performance. For example, a contextual factor that increases the process cost, or a resource that is observed to be delaying the process.
The recommended actions include:
Proactively monitor
The Monitor feature in IBM Process Mining enables you to continuously observe business processes, detect events based on specified criteria, and set up notification services for alerts. Proactive monitoring helps you to perform preventive actions against potential KPI influencers before they occur in processes. Prescriptive Process Mining lists out these potential KPI influencers in the report and recommends to you to set up monitors to address their threat. To set up monitors, select the Take action button in the tile.
When you click Take action, IBM Process Mining automatically creates a monitor for you. You can find this new, customizable monitor in the Monitor page of the application.
For more information about monitors, see Monitors.
Simultaneously, an Analytics dashboard is created for the project that includes a widget with the Case ID as Dimension and the nonconformant items as filters.
For more information about Analytics widgets, see Configuring widgets.
Proactive monitoring is recommended only for contextual attributes in projects.
Reactively monitor
Reactive monitoring with Prescriptive Process Mining is the process of watching the process consistently to detect performance deviations in terms of specified KPIs. For example, when a process is stuck in an activity beyond an acceptable duration, the monitor alerts you so that you can take corrective actions. To set up monitors, select the Take action button in the tile.

Start an investigation
You can directly start a conversation with resources who are involved in nonconforming activities in the process. Prescriptive Process Mining lists these resources in the report and sets up an automated email for you to contact them.
To access the automated email, select the Take action button in the tile.
Deploy Task mining
Task mining is the process of recording and analyzing all or specific user interactions on machines to study the productivity, working patterns, and level of automation in a process. Task mining helps you to gain deeper insights into individual activities involved in processes. The insights that are generated from IBM Task Mining is transferred to IBM Process Mining for further process analysis. For more information about task mining, see IBM Task Mining.
To investigate further and discover more about how the resources work on the nonconforming activity using Task Mining, select the Take action button in the tile. When you click Take action, the latest version of IBM Task Mining Agent is downloaded to your computer. Note that this is available only if you have the necessary permissions to use IBM Task Mining, and your license has quota for the agent.
