Analyzing root causes
The investigative report that is generated by Prescriptive Process Mining contains insights about the three major performance influencers in the process in terms of each KPI. For example, Prescriptive Process Mining identifies the three most nonconforming activities or contextual attributes that increase the process duration KPI beyond the benchmark value. Similarly, major KPI influencers are listed out for other default and custom KPIs.
To further enhance the scope of investigation and provide a deeper insight into the nonconformance, Prescriptive Process Mining also conducts a root cause analysis for each of the three identified KPI influencers. The Insights tab in the investigative report displays the results from this analysis.
To see the insights from the root cause analysis of a nonconforming activity in the process, complete the following steps:
-
In the investigative report page, go to the KPI section and expand the required KPI tile to access the KPI details.
-
In the What is causing your average process duration to increase section, select the required KPI influencer.
-
Select the Insights tab.
The investigative report displays a graphical representation of the comparison between average process performance and the observed process performance when the selected KPI influencer is involved.
In addition to the graphical representation, the investigative report also summarizes the key findings from the analysis in the Key findings section. In this section, Prescriptive Process Mining numerically represents the deviation of the observed performance from the expected average value. This section can also include other findings from the analysis, such as the names of the contextual attributes in the process that influenced the selected process KPI.
When you complete analyzing the results of the investigation, you can proceed to analyzing the actions recommended by Prescriptive Process Mining to resolve the process deviations. For more information, see Exploring recommended actions.
