Business calendar

In the Business calendar tab, you can configure the computation hours and calendars for your process-mining project.

Setting computation hours

Computation hours are the hours in which IBM Process Mining computes the duration (service and waiting time) of the process-mining project. By default, computation hours are set to 24 hours. However, you can set them to specific business hours.

  1. Go to a project that you want to set computation hours for.
  2. From the menu on the left, select Data & Settings.
  3. Go to Business calendar.
  4. Click Edit computation hours.
  5. Set Compute duration using business hours to On.
  6. Choose whether you want or do not want to exclude weekends:
    • Set Exclude weekends to On if you want the application to exclude Saturdays and Sundays when it computes the service and waiting time.
    • Set Exclude weekends to Off if you want the application to include Saturdays and Sundays when it computes the service and waiting time.
  7. In the Business hours field, enter a specific time range that the application considers as business hours instead of the default 24 hours.

In the Business hours field, you must enter the time ranges of the business hours as hh-hh in a 24-hour time format, which is separated by a comma. For example, business hours 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM and 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM must be indicated as 9-13, 14-18.

  1. Click Save and Apply.

Disabling computation hours

  1. Go to a project that you want to disable computation hours for.
  2. From the menu on the left, select Data & Settings.
  3. Go to Business calendar.
  4. Click Edit computation hours.
  5. Set Compute duration using business hours to Off.
  6. Click Save and Apply.

Setting calendars

If you want the application to exclude certain days, such as holidays, when it computes the duration (service and waiting time), complete the following steps:

  1. Go to a project that you want to set calendars for.
  2. From the menu on the left, select Data & Settings.
  3. Go to Business calendar.
  4. Click Edit computation hours.
  5. Click Create new calendar.
  6. Enter the calendar name.
  7. Enter the dates considered as holidays (dates excluded from the computation of duration). a. Select the date of a holiday. b. In the Input category field, write the category of the holiday. c. Optional: Click Add date to add a date of another holiday.
  8. Click Save.
  9. Next to the calendar you want to enable, set the toggle to Enabled calendar. You can create and enable multiple calendars.
  10. Click Save and Apply.

Disabling calendars

  1. Go to a project that you want to disable calendars for.
  2. From the menu on the left, select Data & Settings.
  3. Go to Business calendar.
  4. Click Edit computation hours.
  5. Next to the calendar you want to disable, set the toggle to Disabled calendar.
  6. Click Save and Apply.

Deleting calendars

  1. Go to a project from which you want to delete a calendar.
  2. From the menu on the left, select Data & Settings.
  3. Go to Business calendar.
  4. Click Edit computation hours.
  5. Click the three dots icon next to the calendar that you want to delete.
  6. Click Delete and confirm.

The deletion is permanent even if you don't click Save.

Using business hours

When you enable business hours, 4 more parameters become available in Analytics and custom metrics:

  • LEADTIME_WORKED
  • PATHTIME_WORKED
  • SERVICETIME_WORKED
  • WAITTIME_WORKED

You can use these parameters only in Analytics and custom metrics. In IBM Process Mining NextGen, enabling business hours does not change the process model in any way and does not affect the duration times of the process model.
