Uploading files from a cloud storage
You can use the Data & Settings > Data > Data source tab and the Create a process-mining project wizard on the home page to upload a single file. You can also schedule to upload multiple files in a pattern from a cloud storage.
To upload a single file from the cloud storage on the Data source menu, do the following steps:
- Open a project, and go to Data & Settings > Data > Data source.
- Select Event log.
- Expand the Upload file overflow menu and select and click Upload file from a cloud storage.
- On the Select and upload a file page, select the file that you want to upload.
You can use the following options to allow the system to search for files:
- Current path: When you select Current path, all the files in the mentioned path are displayed.
- Everywhere: When you select Everywhere, all the files in the cloud instance are displayed in the table.
Both the Current path and Everywhere options applies not only to the files that are displayed in the table but also to the Search feature.
- Upload the file.
To create a connection schedule to upload files from a cloud in your process mining project, do the following steps:
- Go to Data & Settings > Data > Schedule source.
- On the Schedule source page, choose if you want to use Event log or Object tables to create a schedule.
You can have one data stream connection per project, if you created a data stream by using an event log. If you created the data stream by using object tables, you can create more than one data stream. - Click Add schedule source.
- To start creating a new connection, choose one of the following options:
- Creating a data connection to IBM Cloud® Object Storage.
- Creating a data connection to AWS S3.
- Creating a data connection to Azure Blob Storage.
- You can create a connection by using an exiting storage connection. To do so, on the Establish a connection page, click Use an existing cloud storage connection to create a data connection from the existing list of connections, and then click the required storage connection.
- Select the files that you want to upload. For more information, see Selecting files from a cloud storage.
- Schedule your data connection. For more information, see Scheduling a connection.
- Create the schedule.
If the connection information is not valid, then the **Error creating client for name of the cloud storage provider, verify that the connection parameters message appears.
Creating a data connection to IBM Cloud® Object Storage
To create a connection to IBM Cloud® Object Storage, do the following steps:
- Select IBM Cloud® Object Storage option.
- In the Name field, type a name for the connection.
- Optional: In the Description field, type a description for the connection.
- Provide the values as indicated in the IBM Cloud® Object Storage instance for the Bucket name, Location, Bucket instance CRN, Public endpoint, and Api key fields.
For more information on how to locate the values, see Example: Creating a new data connection to IBM Cloud® Object Storage. - Go to the next step. For more information, see Selecting files.
Creating a data connection to AWS S3
To create a connection to AWS S3, do the following steps:
- Select AWS S3 option.
- In the Name field, type a name for the connection.
- Optional: In the Description field, type a description for the connection.
- Provide the values as indicated in the AWS S3 instance for the Bucket name, Region, Access key, and Secret key fields.
- Go to the next step. For more information, see Selecting files.
Creating a data connection to Azure Blob Storage
To create a connection to Azure Blob StoraGE, do the following steps:
- Select the Azure Blob Storage option.
- In the Name field, type a name for the connection.
- Optional: In the Description field, type a description for the connection.
- Provide the values as indicated in the Azure Blob Storage instance for the Container name, Account name, and Account key fields.
- Go to the next step. For more information, see Selecting files.
Selecting files for scheduling a data connection
To select a file while you create Schedule source, click the folder link and then use the glob patterns to select the required set of files or files. To upload multiple files in a pattern from a cloud storage, on the Select files page select the folder path from which you want to upload the files. To select the set of files, use the *
in your pattern.
If you use object tables to create a schedule source, you must select a free table corresponding to the project. To do this, select the appropriate table from the drop-down list. You can then use the pattern to select files.
After you select the files, go to the next step. For more information, see Scheduling a connection.
Scheduling a connection
On the Scheduling page, set the time interval at which the system must upload the file, and then click Create. The created storage connection is displayed on the Schedule source page.
For example, if you set the schedule to every hour, the process starts on the next full hour. For that reason, set the minimum values.
