This feature is available as a technology preview.
Simulation
You can create a simulation that is based on the original process. You can filter the simulated process separately to the main project with a specific set of variants. You can also create multiple versions of your simulation and base them on the previously created set of process evolutions and configurations. For example, you can simulate the Return on Investment (ROI) before you implement any process improvement initiative, such as the Robotic Process Automation (RPA). To learn about process evolutions and configurations, see Your to-be scenario.
Creating a simulation
Do the following steps to create a simulation:
- Open a project and go to the What if tab.
- Click the Create new simulation button.
- Define the details of your project.
- Use the Start from process mining data button to create your simulation by basing it on the source data from your project.
- Include at least one variant in your simulation.
Exclude running cases
filter is included by default. - Optional: Add filters to your simulation. For more information, see Filters.
- Configure your simulation and set up process evolutions. For more information, see Your to-be scenario.
- Click Simulate to start the simulation.
- When the simulation is ready, click View results to access the dashboard with the process comparison.
Managing the configuration
The process and its preview automatically update when any adjustments are made to the configuration of the scenario.
Use the buttons on the header to do the following actions:
- Change the version of the simulation
- Change the view
- Save the configuration and process evolutions
- Copy the simulation to another version
- Delete the version
You can change the model view of your process model preview in the dropdown menu. For more information, see Exploring model views.
Comparing the simulation with the baseline process
After you run the simulation, you can view the comparison between the real process and the simulated scenario by using the View result button. The comparison is shown in a dashboard view similar to the one in Analytics. For more information, see Configuring dashboards.
You can view the results of your simulation on the right half of the screen. The left side of the screen shows the baseline process for comparison.
You can filter your results by using the built-in filters. After you run a simulation, a filter template called "Simulation Baseline - simulation name" is created. Only one filter template is created for multiple versions of a simulation, as the filters are the same in all of the versions. For more information, see Filters.
