Creating a simulation from the start

You can create a scenario of a new simulation from the start or add the new version to an existing simulation.

Unless the simulation is created from a BPMN managed by an external BPA vendor, the new scenario is usually entirely set as default, because there is no data from which to extract simulation settings. For more information, see the Simulation specification section.

If the starting point is an external BPA vendor’s BPMN, the provided data, for example activity working time or waiting time, is used instead of the default. The data can be modified only on the external BPA vendor, so only the not provided data can be edited.

Creating a IBM Process Mining process from the start using simulation

To create an IBM Process Mining project and visualize the simulation as a real process, click Create Project. The results of a simulation created from the start are displayed as a table.

Create the new project using simulated datasource. Only in this case the simulated datasource is considered as a real datasource.

The new executions of the simulation consider the most recently created IBM Process Mining process as a reference. However, you can replace the process baseline with the results of a new simulation.

To-Be scenario is the default scenario and As-Is scenario is the most recently created scenario.

You can import the results of the simulation. To import, go to the Compare tab and select one of the following options:

  • To-Be The results that are generated by the simulation are appended to existing data as a simulated data set.
  • As-Is The results that are generated by the simulation are imported as a real data set and all existing data sets are automatically disabled, both real and simulated.
