Managing a custom vendor

By default, IBM Process Mining and IBM Task Mining support IBM RPA as the default vendor. From the release 1.14.0, you can use the Add Vendor feature to add a new vendor to the application. These newly added vendors are marked as custom vendors in the application.

The following topics help you understand the tasks that are related to managing a custom vendor:

Adding a new custom vendor

You can use the following steps to add a custom vendor:

  1. On the Script Snippet Library page, click Add Vendor.

  2. On the Upload your custom bot generator script file page of the Add new RPA vendor dialog, do the following steps:

    a. In the RPA vendor name field, specify the name of the vendor.

    b. Click Upload script to upload the generator script file for the vendor.

You must ensure that the vendor name contains only alphanumeric characters and spaces.
IBM Task Mining provides a sample UiPath generator script file. You can use the Download template button to download the sample generator script file in JavaScript. For more information on the sample script, see Understanding the sample UiPath pluggable RPA bot generator script.

c. Click Next.

  1. Optional. On the Step 2: Upload the snippets file page of the Add new RPA vendor dialog box, click Upload snippets to upload the script snippets for the newly added vendor, and then click Finish.

You can also use the Import Snippets button on the Script Snippet Library page to upload the snippets. For more information, see Importing snippets into the snippet library

Managing custom vendors

You can use the Manage Vendors feature to edit the details of the vendor, download the bot generator script and the snippet library of a custom vendor, and delete the custom vendor.

Editing the details of a custom vendor

Use the following steps to edit the details of a custom vendor:

  1. On the Script Snippet Library page, click Manage Vendors.

  2. On the Manage RPA vendors dialog box, click the more options button for the required custom vendor, and then click Edit.

  3. In the Edit Custom vendor dialog, you must change the vendor name or update a new generator script file, and then click Next.

  4. Optional. On the Step 2: Upload the snippets file page of the Edit Custom RPA vendor dialog box, click Upload snippets to upload the script snippets if you want to upload the snippets, and then click Finish.

To edit or manage the snippets for the custom vendor, you can use any one of the following options on the Script Snippet Library:

Deleting the custom vendor

Use the following steps to delete a custom vendor:

  1. On the Script Snippet Library page, click Manage Vendors.

  2. On the Manage RPA vendors dialog box, click the more options button for the required custom vendor, and then click Delete.

Downloading the bot generator script and snippets associated of a custom vendor

Use the following steps to download the contents of a custom vendor:

  1. On the Script Snippet Library page, click Manage Vendors.

  2. On the Manage RPA vendors dialog box, click the more options button for the required custom vendor, and then click Download.

  3. In the Download name of custom vendor dialog box, do one of the following steps, and then click Download.

    • Click Download generator script and associated snippet collection to download the generator script and the associated snippets of the custom vendor.
    • Click Download generator script only to download the generator script of the selected custom vendor.

Setting a custom vendor as default for a tenant in IBM Process Mining

A custom vendor created in IBM Task Mining automatically reflects in IBM Process Mining. You can set the created custom vendor as the default RPA vendor before generating an RPA bot.
