Simulation settings for a process

In IBM Process Mining, you must set the Simulation settings before generating simulations from the Compare page or Automate page. For example, the default number of instances is inherited from the Simulation settings.

You can use the following steps to edit the simulation settings:

  1. In the left pane of the Manage page, click Simulation, then click Edit simulation details. Edit simulation

  2. In the Edit simulation details dialog box, do the following steps:
    a. In the Arrival distribution list, select the required distribution algorithm for case generation.
Note: When you select Arrival distribution as historical, IBM Process Mining reproduces the reality from the actual process.

    b. In the Interval section, select the time at which the simulation is created.

    c. In the Number of instances box, type the number of cases that the Simulation must generate.

    d. Set the Generate relevant-data slider to On or Off.
Note: When you set the Generate relevant-data slider to On, the Simulation generates relevant data that reflects the distribution of the real process. It also discovers the underlying correlations and replicates in the simulation.

    e. Set the Adapt Staff Availability to FTE slider to On or Off.

    f. In the Business hour start threshold box, type the threshold value that the application must consider.

    g. In the Index list, select the required time as Average or Median.
Note: According to the selection, IBM Process Mining automatically sets in the simulation of all the activities service and waiting times that are retrieved from the data-derived model.

    h. In the Base time unit list, select the time unit for display.
Note: By default, the time is precise to minutes. Select seconds to display the time in seconds.

    i. Click Save. Edit simulation

Notes:

  • In this Human task section and the Robotic task section, you can mention details of staff availability and number of robots that are used in the process.
