Compare

Overview

The Compare page of IBM Process Mining helps you to compare two different filter templates from the same or different processes based on the following pointers:

  • Process model and overview statistics
  • Activity performance
  • Activity and case costs

You can also create simulations and use the simulation in the Compare page to generate a Robotic Process Automation (RPA) bot and compare the percentage of possible automation for each activity.

For more information on using the Compare page, see the following links:

Prerequisites

For proper functioning of the Simulation feature in the Compare page, you must edit the following settings:

  1. On the Manage page, go to General, and do the following tasks:
    a. Verify whether you have assigned values for Automation attributes.

    Automation attributes

    b. If no values are assigned for the feature or to edit the existing values, you can click Edit automation attributes.

    Edit Automation attributes

    c. In the Edit automation attributes dialog box, select the required values for the fields, Automated activity attribute, Automated field truth-value, and Excluded fields, and then click Save.

Note: You can avoid this step if the process does not include activities that are derived from IBM Task Mining.

  2. On the Manage page, go to Simulation, and verify the value for the Number of instances field.
Note: It is recommended to maintain a higher value in the Number of instances field to get an accurate simulation. However, you might observe a delay in getting the result of simulation.

  3. You can click Edit simulation details to update the value for the Number of instances field.

Additional information

On the Compare page, you must ensure that both the models, A and B are displayed based on the default level of detail available in the Project Settings. If the level of detail is not 100%, some activities and relations might not be displayed although the activities are present in the model.

Tip: The functionality of the Compare page is effective when you compare an As-Is process with a To-Be simulation scenario.

You can use the following steps to ensure complete result in the Compare page:

  1. Update the simulation scenario to your data source, visualize your process, and go to the Compare page.
  2. In the A process, create an As-Is filter template, and then insert an Exclude simulated cases filter.
  3. In the B process, create a To-Be filter template, and then insert an Exclude As-is cases filter.
  4. Compare the two scenarios.
Note: An insightful analysis is possible only if the two scenarios have approximately the same timespan and number of cases.
