The following figure illustrates the View options pane of the Model page.
Identifying the number of visualized cases and events
The case gauge and indicates the number of visualized cases, and the events gauge indicates the number of events that are represented in the process model. The percentage of the gauges represents the percentage of total cases that are represented in the model.
Viewing the list of active filters
The Active filters section is enabled only if at least one filter is applied to the process model. You can also use this section to delete an active filter.
In the Active filters section, you can perform one or both of the following steps:
- To view or hide the complete list of active filter, expand or collapse the Active filters section.
- To delete an active filter, click the close button corresponding to the required filter.
The following figure illustrates the Active filters section.
Modifying the view of the process model
IBM Process Mining offers different views depending on the specific type of information you want to display.
The following screen capture shows Model view section.
Perform the following steps to modify the view of the process model:
-
In the View options pane, click Model View.
-
In the View mode list, click one of the following options:
-
In the Model orientation section, you can perform one of the following actions:
- Click Portrait to change the orientation of the process model to vertical.
- Click Landscape to change the orientation of the process model to horizontal.
Each view has the following information in the activity box:
- The activity description indicates the name of the activity and the roles by which the activity is carried out.
- The percentage of the colored circle on the lower right corner corresponds to the Model coverage.
Frequency view
The frequency view mode displays the process model based on frequency as shown in 'Figure 1. Frequency view'.
Figure 1. Frequency view
The activity boxes have the following features:
- The shade of the activity box (1) emphasizes activities with the most completions, represented by the frequency number (2) within the activity box and the Activity frequency legend (4) in the lower-left corner of the model.
The transition arrows have the following features:
- The bold arrows emphasize the most frequent transitions.
- The frequency number on the arrows (3) shows the number of process flows between two activities.
Rework view
The rework view displays the performance view of the process based on the average number of times an activity is reworked during each case as shown in 'Figure 2. Rework view'.
Figure 2. Rework view
The activity boxes have the following features:
- The shade of the activity box (1) emphasizes the most reworked activities, represented by the case rework number (2) within the activity box and the Activity rework legend (4) in the lower-left corner of the model.
- The Automated instance ratio box with the gear icon (3) shows the percentage of automation of the selected activity.
- The case rework number (2) also displays the number of times the activity is repeated for each case in brackets.
The transition arrows have the following features:
- The bold arrows emphasize the most frequent reworked activities.
Duration view
The duration view displays the process model based on the duration for various categories - Average, Median, Minimum, Maximum, and Weighted as shown in 'Figure 3. Duration view'.
ⓘ Tip: When you select Duration, you can set KPI palette to On. Setting KPI palette to On activates the KPI analysis view based on the defined KPI settings. For more information on KPI settings, see KPI settings.
Figure 3. Duration view
The activity boxes have the following features:
- The shade of the activity box (1) emphasizes activities with the longest service time, also called Activity Duration, represented by the Activity duration number (2) within the activity box and the Activity duration legend (7) in the lower-left corner of the model. Dark purple activities have the longest service time.
- The number on the upper-left corner (4) shows the average queue length, and the maximum length of the waiting queue.
- The number on the upper-right corner (5) shows the average waiting time of the activity(i.e. weighted average between ALL the incoming transitions, not only the shown ones) and the maximum waiting time.
- The allocted number on the lower-left corner (6) shows the average number of resources allocated concurrently on the activity, as well as the maximum allocation at any time.
The transition arrows have the following features:
- The bold arrows emphasize the transitions that have the longest wait time between activities.
- The duration on the arrows reflects how long it takes to transition from one activity to another (3).
Cost view
The cost view displays the average cost of each activity based on predefined cost settings as shown in 'Figure 4. Cost view'.
Figure 4. Cost view
The activity box (1) contain the following information:
- The shade of the activity box (1) emphasizes activities with the highest cost, represented by the Activity cost (2) number (cost per activity case in the given currency) within the activity box and the Activity Cost legend (3) in the lower-left corner of the model. Dark green activities have the highest cost per case.
Overall cost view
The overall cost view displays the overall cost of each activity based on predefined cost settings as shown in 'Figure 5. Overall cost view'.
Figure 5. Overall cost view
The activity box (1) contain the following information:
-
The shade of the activity box (1) emphasizes activities with the highest overall cost, represented by the Overall activity cost number (2)within the activity box and the Activity cost (Overall) legend (3) in the lower-left corner of the model. Dark green activities have the highest overall cost.
-
The overall activity cost (2) is calculated by the following cost model:
Total Activity Cost = Activity Standard cost + (AVG Working Time * Avg Resource or Role Cost)
Analyzing the activity and relation complexity of the process model
Use the Model details section to choose the level of detail of the process model.
Perform one or both of the following steps:
- Use the activity complexity slider to select the percentage of visible activities. When you select a low percentage, the process model displays only the most frequent activities.
- Use the relation complexity slider to increase the percentage of relations between the activities. When you increase this percentage, the process model displays the less frequent paths and provides a detailed (although less readable and less user-friendly) vision of the process.
The following figure illustrates the Model detail section.
Animating the process flow
You use the Process animation options section to visually replicate the process flow based on the selected analysis period you uploaded. IBM Process Mining can reproduce the path of each instance or token.
Perform the following steps to animate a process:
- Set View tokens to On to display the process instances.
Note: The animation tokens are displayed as red dots on the process model. - Select the required animation from the Animation speed list.
- Use one of the following steps to pick the duration:
** Move the Timestamp slider to the time from which you must monitor the process flow.
** In the date picker field, type the required date, and then in the time field, type the required timestamp.
Note: You can also choose the calendar icon in the date picker field to select a date that you want to animate the process. - Click Start animation.
The following figure illustrates the Process animation options section.
Highlighting the activities performed by each role
Perform the following step to highlight the activities for a role:
- In the Highlight activities section of the View options pane, select the required role from the list. The process model displays the activities that are performed by the selected role.
The following figure illustrates the Highlight activities section.
