Resource registration fails when using hostname

Problem

You might encounter a problem while registering a resource using the hostname in PowerVC.

Explanation

Registration of a resource such as a compute host, a storage provider, or a network switch, etc. might fail when you use uppercase letters or a combination of both uppercase and lowercase letters in the hostname.

Resolution

When using a hostname to register a resource, make sure the hostname has all lowercase letters, and is a combination of alphanumeric characters that resolves via DNS. For example, <valid_name>.<organization>.com.
