Migrating a virtual machine from a P6 host fails

Migrating a virtual machine from a P6 host is not supported in these situations.

  • A virtual machine on a NovaLink in P6 or P6+ mode cannot be migrated to an HMC managed P6 host.
  • If a virtual machine on a NovaLink in P6 or P6+ mode is migrated to an HMC managed P7 host, that virtual machine cannot then be migrated to an HMC managed P6 host.
  • If a virtual machine on an HMC managed P6 host is migrated to NovaLink and then has a NIC attached, that virtual machine cannot be migrated to an HMC managed P6 host.
